Positions Available This summer, we will be hiring for three positions total - one policy associate focused on transportation and public safety, one research associate, and one communications associate.
Positions are open to Juniors, Seniors, graduate students, and recent graduates.
Description:
Summer Policy Associate -Transportation & Public Safety The Bay Area Council is seeking a Summer Policy Associate to assist the Council's transportation and public safety policy teams.
Projects may include:
Tracking and summarizing local, state, and federal legislation in the issue areas of transportation and public safety and drafting letters of support Providing programmatic support for the six Bay Area Council committees, subcommittees, and task forces related to transportation and public safety Assisting with administering surveys that measure the region's post-pandemic recovery and analyzing survey data Studying and reporting on the best practices of other cities and agencies' responses to crime, both now and throughout history Researching various transportation funding issues at the regional, state, and federal level Attending public hearings related to the issue areas and drafting summaries on key items Additional assignments may range from public policy research and analysis, program design, market research, trade and investment promotion, foundation funding analysis and requests, website content development, social media creation, event management, and database development.
Summer Policy Associates will have the opportunity to attend Council events and policy committee meetings to see firsthand how the Council and its business leaders engage with stakeholder groups in shaping the future of public policy in the region.

Compensation & Benefits Summer Associates positions are temporary, part-time for 24 hours per week at a rate of $20.

The part-time position does not include benefits other than those required by San Francisco law for sick leave Associates are required to come into the office every Tuesday and Thursday at the Bay Area Council headquarters, located on the Historic Klamath on Pier 9, San Francisco.
