The Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) is the transportation planning, financing and coordinating agency for the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area.

The Legislation and Public Affairs (LPA) Section is the home of MTC's communications, public engagement and legislative advocacy work, which focuses on policies that impact the Bay Area's transportation system, housing and the environment.
The LPA Section also works to ensure that interested Bay Area residents have an opportunity to help shape regional transportation and land use policies.
MTC's robust public engagement program elevates public comments for consideration to the MTC and ABAG boards and provides the public with timely information via web content, social media and printed materials.
The LPA Section Administrator will report directly to the LPA Section Director and will support the work of the LPA Section which supports a complex set of project and program management responsibilities and a staff of twenty-six (26) personnel.
The individual in this position will assist the Section Director, Assistant Directors and Principals with meeting and appointment facilitation, document routing, memos, letters, and other professional documents, using word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and/or presentation software.
They will also assist with coordinating special events, maintaining and ordering stock for events and outreach, maintaining records, maintaining the contact database needs for the section, reviewing monthly section financials for Finance, and research and dissemination of pertinent information impacting LPA work.
The person in this position must be able to interact with staff at all levels of the organization, excel in a fast-paced environment, under pressure, and be flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
All employees at MTC are classified as Disaster Service Workers.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Knowledge of:
English language - spelling, punctuation, usage and grammar.
Business writing, formatting, and presentation of materials and documents.
Skilled with Microsoft Office programs, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel, and Adobe software.
Methods and techniques of scheduling calendars and events in Microsoft Outlook and Zoom.
Principles and practices of governmental fiscal reporting, accounting, and payroll procedures.
Event planning and logistics coordination.
Business administration principles and practices such as communications, management controls, project/event planning, purchasing, and records management.
Skill and Ability to:
Manage multiple critical tasks with conflicting priorities and/or deadlines.
Proactively plan and organize work; prioritize and follow-up on work assignments and coordinate multiple assignments with minimal supervision.
Communicate clearly, positively and effectively; both verbally and in writing.
Be professional, articulate, and accurate, both verbally and in writing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS An appropriate combination of education and experience that has provided the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.
A typical way of obtaining the required qualifications is:
Education:
High School diploma or GED; and
Experience:
Two years of experience equivalent to that of an Executive Assistant I in MTC, or six years of progressively responsible secretarial or office administrative experience, including two years of experience serving as an Executive Assistant, preferably in a government agency.
License/Certificate:
Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license and a safe driving record, or the ability to provide alternate transportation which is approved by the appointing authority.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
General Administrative Duties Provide varied, complex, and confidential secretarial and administrative assistance to the Section Director and section managers.
Prioritize, distribute and process incoming and outgoing communications of all types; handle confidential correspondence.
Plan, coordinate and execute complex meetings and events.
Must be flexible to assist with events in relation to dates/times/locations.
Provide information regarding agency functions, policies, procedures, and practices to other section staff.
Coordinate, organize and maintain various records, reports, manuals and resource materials.
Manage phone calls, emails, communications, meetings and visitors, and refer inquiries appropriately.
LPA Section Specific Duties Develop and implement processes for document routing, editing, and tracking for a variety of LPA Section needs and functions, including official position letters on legislation and reports.
Assist with stakeholder and outreach events, as assigned, including the scheduling, meeting material development, and meeting execution.
Under the direction of LPA Section management, participate and assist with the compilation and execution of complex documents and reports required by state and federal law.
Perform other job-related tasks and duties as needed or assigned by the Section.
THE FOLLOWING ARE AMONG THE BENEFITS OFFERED TO EMPLOYEES OF MTC:
Public Employees Retirement System (PERS); employee contributes a portion of gross salary on a pre-tax basis.
MTC is subject to California Pension Reform and as of January 1, 2013 will offer two pension plans.
The plan employee will receive will be based on the individual's historical pension plan membership.
HR will discuss this directly with all final candidates.
Health Benefits Insurance through the Public Employees' Retirement System (premiums are shared between agency and employee).
Agency-paid Dental Insurance (dependent coverage shared by the employee and MTC).
Agency-paid Vision Care Insurance, employees only (dependent coverage is paid in full by employee).
Agency-paid Life, AD&D, Short Term and Long Term Disability Insurance.
Eleven paid holidays per year.
One day per month paid vacation leave; for each year of service, an additional day per year is granted to a maximum of 25 days per year.
One day per month paid sick leave, with no limit to the amount of sick leave that can be accumulated.
(May cash out up to 240 hours of accumulated sick leave upon separation from the Agency.
) Personal Business leave; up to three (3) days per year depending upon date of hire.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
