Principal Software Engineer

We're looking for software engineers who will modernize Hertz's tech stack and, in the process, ship delightful products to meet the ever-increasing demands of our customers.JOB SUMMARYYou will be building scalable systems and shipping features in a complex environment, where one must contend with challenges such as modernizing legacy applications and managing technical debt.ROLES AND RESPONSIBILTIESDesign, develop, and deploy applications that can handle high request volumes with high reliability and low latencyCollaborate with product managers to build product requirements against business objectives and drive teams through the complete software development lifecycleEnvision system features and functionality, create detailed design documentation, and decide on tradeoffs between technical and design approaches.Identify any technical issues that arise and follow up with root-cause analysis and resolutionIdentify key application metrics, build necessary dashboards for monitoring performance, and add necessary logging for real-time debuggingReview code, support continuous improvement, and investigate alternativesUtilize CI/CD tools to support system integration and deploymentMentor other engineers to help build a high-performing engineering cultureQUALIFICATIONS9
years of experience in the technology industry, and a B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (e.g. Java, Ruby, Python, Golang) and common data structures / algorithmsAbility to design systems of large complexityAbility to act at tech lead for projects end-to-endStrong communication skills. You must be able to work with cross-functional partners to gather requirements and explain outcomesStrong product sense. You must be able to align your work with business objectives and make appropriate tradeoffsLearning mentality. You must be able to pick up new skills as needed and demonstrate a curiosity about new technologiesHIGHLY PREFERREDEngineering experience at high-tech firms (e.g. Amazon, Meta, DoorDash, Twilio)Experience architecting and building large-scale systems in an agile development environmentExperience working alongside technical product managers to drive projects and flesh out product requirementsWe expect the starting salary to be around $230,000 with annual bonus and profit sharing eligibility. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
