Position descriptionUCSF School of Medicine Department of PediatricsInvestigators in Pediatric ResearchThe Department of Pediatrics at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is recruiting faculty candidates for its Program in Pediatric Research. These positions will support investigators across the translational science spectrum, including basic, translational, and clinical research. Successful candidates will have a track record of outstanding research accomplishments and extramural funding. This program seeks to attract early stage, mid-career, and senior researchers and provides a generous start-up package. Appointments will be made at the Assistant, Associate or Professor rank in the Clinical X or In Residence series. Academic rank is commensurate with experience.Requirements:MD or MD/PhD degree with training in pediatrics and/or a pediatric subspecialty and eligibility for a medical licenseBoard certified or board eligible in pediatrics and/or a pediatric subspecialtyProven track record of publications and obtaining peer-reviewed external fundingAbility to work collaborativelyCommitment to diversity in the workplaceDesirable
Qualifications:Strength in teachingStrong oral and written communication/interpersonal skillsHas obtained, or is on track to obtain, R01 or equivalent funding as a Principal InvestigatorThe University of California San Francisco (UCSF) has renowned interdisciplinary research programs and an environment that fosters cross-collegiate and departmental collaborations and that facilitates program development. UCSF has been ranked 1st in NIH funding among public universities for the past 15 years and was 4th among all public and private institutions with over $700 million in 2021. Much of UCSF research is interdisciplinary and collaborations are fostered and coordinated in over 800,000 sq. ft. of research space.The Department of Pediatrics received over $23 million in NIH funding in 2021 and has six T32 training grants. The Department trains residents, fellows, and post-docs. Its residency program was ranked 5th in the nation by U.S. News and World Report in 2021. The Department s clinical enterprise is based at UCSF Benioff Children s Hospitals, among the ten largest children s health care providers in the country with a combined 373 beds, over 200,000 ambulatory visits annually, and outreach clinics throughout Northern California, providing the Department with an unsurpassed opportunity to meet the needs of infants, children, and young adults throughout the Bay Area. In 2021, UCSF Benioff Children s Hospitals ranked in all 10 children s specialties in U.S. News and World Report. Nestled in a dynamic and unique geography distinguished by unprecedented innovations in technology, UCSF and the Department of Pediatrics are able to bring research and industry together to advance health. The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5: . The minimum base salary range for this position is $115,100-$305,900. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan () which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
