Description:
Research Associate I - Corces Lab
Description
We are looking for a research associate to join our growing lab group. The candidate will be a critical member of a team of biologists working to understand the role of the epigenome in neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. The position will require the candidate to learn and perform basic and advanced cellular and molecular biology techniques including high throughput sequencing, single-cell assays, CRISPR-based high-throughput screens, flow cytometry, and iPSC-based cellular differentiation assays.
This position will be research-based with multiple opportunities for publication. The skills and experiences acquired from this position would provide a useful background for future pursuits in medical and/or bioscience graduate school. The ideal candidate would be someone who is motivated to learn cutting-edge sequencing and cellular assays, interested in understanding disease mechanisms, works well in a team setting, and is extremely organized. We strongly encourage individuals from groups underrepresented in science to apply.
In particular, this position will be focused on the generation of large-scale single-cell multi-omic datasets from primary patient brain tissue. The work will initially involve repetitive tissue processing and sequencing library preparation but will provide later opportunities for learning additional techniques and developing independent projects. A minimum commitment of 2 years in the lab is expected.
