Nurse Practitioner - Pulmonary Services

Nurse Practitioners work as independent health care providers as such all must be privileged. The NPs in Pulmonary service are responsible for working with Accurate mapping every two weeks is critical for assuring capture of workload. To assure accurate workload credit, all encounters must be completed and documentation notes are signed within 72 hours of the visit and attached to the encounter. Encounter completion and note signage are the responsibility of the NP as this will be reviewed as part of your performance evaluation. It is imperative to work closely with the service administrative staff to assess if scheduled appointments are needed and encounters are attached to a scheduled appointment (either pre-scheduled or scheduled after the fact). All APNs must also understand and utilize VA Video Connect. Telephone visits and Video Connect visits that are clinical in nature should be attached to a scheduled appointment slot which may be over booked. Completed encounters and signed notes must be provided here as well. The duties of the Pulmonary NP include, but are not limited to:
Functions within an interdisciplinary care team providing comprehensive specialty care to veterans with any type of disease, whether genetic, infectious, toxin, or metabolism related. Provides direct and indirect patient care of this complex patient population; evaluating, managing, and providing patient education. Serves as a resource for other clinicians, fielding general and patient-specific concerns. Additionally, the NP participates in management of service/clinic operations and program development. Responsible and accountable for following the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care; assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care based on all characteristics of the individual, including age and life stages, state of health, race and culture, values, and previous experiences. Responsible for the coordination of care, focusing on patient transition through the continuum of care, patient and family health education with a focus on self-management based on the patient's goals. Participates in and use of research, development and implementation of health policy, leadership, education, case management and consultation. Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 0800-1630 with extended hours as necessary to provide Veteran care. Basic Requirements:

Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant:
The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Current full, active and unrestricted registration as an advanced-practice nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States or District of Columbia Current DEA certification for schedule II-V controlled medications Current prescriptive authority or furnishing license Current National Board Certification in the area of specialty, i.e., ANP, FNP, Geriatrics or AGNP. Experience:
3-4 years of APN experience, pulmonary preferred 4-5 years of nursing experience We regret that we are unable to consider new graduate (less than 1 year of experience) nurse practitioners for this position Grade Determinations:
The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade:
Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse III - Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree. Reference:

The physical requirements of this position include lifting, prolonged standing, frequent bending and stooping, walking, reaching and repetitive motion. heavy lifting (45 lbs and over); heavy carrying (45 lbs. and over); straight pulling (up to 1 hour); pushing (1-2 hours); reaching above shoulder; use of fingers; both hands required; walking (up to 3 hours) standing (up to 3 hours); repeated bending (up to 1 hour); ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously; near vision correctable at 13 to 16; hearing (aid permitted). The mental/sensory requirements include recall, reasoning, problem-solving, hearing, speaking clearly, writing, keyboarding, reading and logical thinking. The environments' pace can vary from steady to critical, requiring handling of multiple priorities, frequent, sometimes intense customer interactions and the ability to adapt to frequent changes in a some-times noisy environment. There may be the need to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to disease, illness and hazardous materials. Participation in the seasonal influenza program is a condition of employment and a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP). HCP are individuals who, during the influenza season, work in VHA locations where patients receive care or who come into contact with VA patients as part of their role.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
