Landscape Architect

The Park Planning and Environmental Compliance Program is responsible for the management of park planning and environmental compliance for all National Park Service units in region. This includes park units located in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, California, Hawaii and the Pacific Island areas of America Samoa, Saipan and Guam. Principal responsibilities include serving as a landscape architect and site planner on an interdisciplinary planning team, providing specific individual project assistance to a park unit, or serving as a project manager as may be assigned by the regional Chief of Planning and Compliance. Responsible for certain site data collection and analysis, assisting the park and planning team with identifying data gaps that may exist.Responsible for the consideration of both the built and natural environment in incorporating design elements into the plan. This includes, but is not limited to, consultation with park management and staff in the protection of resources and providing opportunities for visitor use and enjoyment. As requested, prepare site concept plans, sketches, and other graphic illustrations and related landscape architectural work, and provide the necessary planning assistance and consultation.The incumbent coordinates planning and design efforts with various disciplines and professionals during the course of a planning project.The incumbent either serves as a project manager, or serves as part of an interdisciplinary General Management Planning, special resource study, or site planning team involving personnel from the park unit involved, the Regional Office, and contract personnel as may be assigned. Experience:
for each year short of graduation, the applicant must have had one year of experience under professional leadership and guidance of such character and diversity as to be a satisfactory substitute for the required education. This experience must have included original landscape design. NOTE:
The following kinds of experience are not acceptable as professional Landscape Architect
Experience:
routine drafting or developing of plans where original investigations or designs are not involved; laying out or executing illustrations in black and white or in color; nursery work involving the propagation of trees, shrubs, vines; experimental horticultural, or landscape, gardening; breeding, testing, propagation, culture, and production of plants, flowers, trees, or corps; forestry work involving the management of forest resources for the continuous production of timber, water, forage, and other forest values; architectural and engineering work limited to the design of structures; work in city and community planning that relates primarily to the broad social and economic growth of cities and communities and the organization of community services and facilities. For the GS-12 grade level:
To qualify for this position at the GS-12 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
Experience:
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as:
1) preparing a variety of comprehensive planning projects related to new or existing outdoor recreation (i.e. general management plans, development concept plans, etc.); 2) developing feasibility studies; and 3) overseeing and analyzing public participation and involvement with partners and stakeholders. You must include hours per week worked. NOTE:
Education is not qualifying nor may be substituted for specialized experience for the GS-12 grade level. Volunteer
Experience:
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
